ABOUT OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathy acknowledges the many interrelationships of anatomy and physiology in the human body. With careful assessment of position, mobility, and vitality, a treatment plan is created to open the door for homeostasis in the body.
Osteopathic manual therapy uses gentle techniques to promote freedom of body tissues and structures. Restoration of movement allows the body to return to a more optimal state of function.

It is best to wear comfortable garments you can freely move around in, such as yoga or exercise clothing, sweats, shorts, t-shirt and/or tank top. Osteopathic manual therapy techniques often incorporate gentle compression and/or stretch into tissues to improve pliability, circulation, and mobility.
Osteopathic manual therapists do not make medical diagnoses, prescribe medicine, or perform surgery. This differs from osteopathic physicians (D.O.s), medical doctors trained at osteopathic medical colleges in the United States. Osteopathic manual therapy is not a substitute for medical evaluation or treatment.
